Samsung opens semiconductor safety academy

Samsung Electronics opened an academy to provide education to employees of its semiconductor business partners in a bid to improve the safety of the working environment, the company announced Sunday.

The academy, located in Yongin, Gyeonggi, opened Friday with the goal of providing professional education on safety to employees of its partners in its Device Solutions division, which handles semiconductors and display panels.

Inside the five-story building is an experiential center for virtual reality (VR), a resting place and a musculoskeletal center. There, employees of Samsung’s partners are able to take experiential education and lectures from experts.

The types of lectures will not just be confined to practical information utilized for work but will also cover stress management and working safety, according to Samsung.

The academy will be open to 140,000 employees from Samsung’s partnering firms.

“We hope the opening of this academy will contribute in innovating the concept of safety for everyone engaged in the semiconductor industry,” said a spokesperson for Samsung Electronics Device Solutions division.
