‘Solo’ video tops 300 million views

Blackpink member Jennie’s music video for her first solo release, “Solo,” surpassed 300 million views on Tuesday morning, according to her agency YG Entertainment.

The music video hit the 300-million-view threshold around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, just six months after its release.

According to the agency, Jennie became the first Korean female solo artist to see her music video viewed over 100 million times within 23 days of its release, and was the fastest to reach the 200-million-view mark, in 90 days, and 300 million, in 182 days.

Jennie was the four-member act’s first member to release a solo track. The other members will shortly follow with their very own music.

Blackpink is also proving strong as a group, with the music video for “Ddu-du Ddu-du” surpassing 800 million views on Saturday - the first time for a K-pop girl group.

The group’s other music videos also flaunt high numbers, with 500 million views for “As If It’s Your Last” and “Boombayah,” 300 million views for “Kill This Love,” “Playing with Fire” and “Whistle.”

The quartet recently finished its North American tour, and will start a round of European concerts with a performance in Amsterdam on Saturday, followed by Manchester, England, on May 21, London on May 22, followed by shows in Berlin, Paris and Barcelona, Spain.
