Tigers sign Preston Tucker to replace Jeremy Hazelbaker

The Kia Tigers signed Preston Tucker on Friday.

The Tigers signed Tucker at $270,000, excluding options, before their game against the Hanwha Eagles in Daejeon on Friday.

Of his contract, $90,000 is a signing bonus and $180,000 is annual income. Tucker is replacing Jeremy Hazelbaker, who was released by the club last Friday. Tigers parted with Hazelbaker after a disappointing .146 batting average in 11 games.

Tucker was drafted by the Houston Astros in the seventh round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, but it wasn’t until 2015 that he made his big league debut for the Astros.

In 243 major league games, Tucker has a .222 batting average with 23 home runs, 68 RBIs and 65 runs. In 577 minor league games, he had a .281 batting average with 101 home runs, 415 RBIs and 369 runs.
