FT Island schedules a concert

Boy band FT Island will be holding a concert on June 29 and 30, FNC Entertainment announced on Monday.

The concert, titled “II,” comes 10 months after their previous concert, which was held in August 2018.

It is the first concert for the band since former member Choi Jong-hoon quit the group due to his involvement in the so-called Seungri-gate Burning Sun nightclub scandal in March.

The remaining four members of the band, Lee Hong-gi, Lee Jae-jin, Song Seung-hyun and Choi Min-hwan, will perform.

The title of the concert “II” is a visual representation of the pause symbol on video players on the computer.

“It is meant to stop our time just for a moment during the performance,” the agency said.

FT Island made its debut in June 2007 as a five-member band. Original member Oh Won-bin quit in 2009, and Song joined the group.

Choi Min-hwan got married to Yulhee, a former member of girl group Laboum, in 2018 and gave birth to a son on May 18 that year. Yulhee quit her group to give birth and raise her child, while Choi is still pursuing his career.

Choi Jong-hoon, meanwhile, was arrested by the police for rape and is awaiting trial.
