Citibank Korea is operating a social contribution program based on three operation principles: employee participation, long-term commitment and social responsibility.

Under these principles, the company not only offers substantial donations, but also forms partnerships with institutions such as nonprofit organizations, academia and government agencies that are specialized in bringing about long-term societal change.

Citibank runs programs where employees can make a voluntary contribution to society, establishing a voluntary social contribution culture in the organization.

The company’s representative social contribution programs include Global Community Day, when employees and their families from all over the world work for the good of their local communities on the same day, and the “Habitat Hope” project that Citi and Habitat for Humanity Korea operate together to build houses for homeless people.

Citibank also operates the “Think Money” program that provides financial education to young people, the Ewha-Citi Global Finance Academy to nurture experts and the Citi-Kyunghee NGO internship program to cultivate civic leaders.

Citi’s social contribution programs have been running for at least 10 years and have attracted the voluntary participation of employees in Korea. Thousands of employees voluntarily participated in the Global Community Day, Global Finance Academy and “Think Money” program as financial specialists, volunteers and mentors.

Citibank has been an unchallenged leader in contributing to public welfare.

When launching new programs such as the finance academy and the housing project, it chose areas that needed the most help and ran programs that offered support in meaningful ways.

“We have been running various social contribution programs that employees can directly participate in and sympathize with,” said a Citibank Korea official. “We will run a new program for social enterprises and social venture businesses and our employees will provide consulting services and offer practical assistance to them.
