Colorful clothes will fill up Seoul Plaza in the center of the city from Friday to Sunday to celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) members.

Asean Week 2019 continues with fashion designs from the region as well as music, food and travel information, to help locals here better understand the cultures of Asean countries including Thailand, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar and more. It is also the 10th anniversary of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, which works to connect Korea with the region in many different industries ranging from auto to travel. To signal the opening of the celebratory event, Secretary General of ASEAN-Korea Centre Lee Hyuk, Mayor of Seoul Park Won-soon and other delegates from the Asean countries will gather on Friday evening. K-pop singer Kim Jun-su and other Asean groups will join to perform.

The highlight of this year’s festival comes on the second day with fashion designers from seven countries presenting their work. Designer Nou Veasna Alias Boranich from Cambodia, Ama Ma Pont of Myanmar, Fock Ee-ling of Singapore, Do Trinh Hoai Nam of Vietnam and more will unveil modern clothes inspired by each country. To make the event even more festive, singers Soyou and The One will perform.

In “My Trip to Asean,” singer and actor Hwang Gwang-hui and travel journalist Shin Ik-su will talk about the unique experiences they had during their time spent in the region, and share tips on how to have a fun trip.
