K-water inks agreement with Indonesia’s PJT2

Korea Water Resources Corporation, a government company also known as K-water, signed an agreement on Thursday with Indonesia’s PJT2 to strengthen cooperation on the sharing of water-management technology and to increase the Korean company’s participation in the Southeast Asian country.

The two have formed strategic partnership.

To mark the partnership, the two water resource managers held a ceremony at Seoul Square, central Seoul. The heads of the two bodies attended the ceremony.

While K-water will provide knowledge and experience related to water management technology, the Indonesian counterpart will offer opportunities for the Korean water manager to join large-scale infrastructure projects.

Presently, K-water is leading the development of Karian Dam in Banten, Indonesia, a project aimed at improving the water supply.

The project, which costs around $165 million, is intended to supply tap water for 1.6 million people in the country.

“The latest agreement will deepen cooperation with Indonesia on water management,” said Lee Hak-soo, CEO of K-water.

“We will make further efforts to spread Korea’s expertise in water management technology and know-how,” he said.
