Air Busan named number one for service in Korea

Air Busan topped the Transport Ministry’s airline-service ranking last year, coming in first in three of the five categories.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced Friday the result of the Korea Transport Institute’s (KOTI) annual evaluation of airlines and airports.

The government reported that among domestic carriers, Air Busan scored the highest marks in terms of safety, timeliness in international flights and consumer satisfaction. Korean Air ranked first in domestic flights, while Air Seoul took the top slot for consumer protection.

Air Busan, however, was found to be inadequate in terms of consumer protection due to a delay incident last November because of bad weather. Passengers had to wait inside a plane for seven hours.

Incheon International Airport scored the highest marks overall among the six airports evaluated.

This year’s report evaluated eight domestic airlines, 47 foreign carriers and six international airports in Korea.
