Hyundai Home Shopping will air in Australia

Hyundai Home Shopping will commence business in Australia next month, the company announced Wednesday.

The show will be aired via Open Shop, its own home shopping broadcasting channel, which will be on air starting Aug. 1.

The company established Australian Shopping Network in December, investing 36 billion won ($32.3 million).

Hyndai Home Shopping has already entered the Thai and Vietnamese markets. It said it picked Australia as the next target due to the country’s high level of economic development, and internet and credit card usage rates, crucial factors for a home shopping.

The firm signed a contract with Seven Network, a major Australian television network, to air the show on one of its channels. The channel will broadcast Hyundai Home Shopping to viewers in five major cities, including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

“We believed the system and the experience we have built in the domestic market, including fast and free delivery and an interest-free installment plan, will help us provide a differentiated home shopping service,” said a spokesperson for the company.

“Based on the experience in Australia, we plan to expand our business to other high-income countries,” said Hyundai Home Shopping CEO Kang Chan-seok.
