KT to show off 5G network at FINA World Championships

KT will showcase its superfast 5G network through demonstrations ranging from remotely-controlled airships to artificial intelligence at the 18th FINA World Championships that kicks off in Gwangju on Friday.

KT said Tuesday that it has completed installing its 5G network infrastructure at the international aquatics competition held in the southwestern city of Gwangju.

The carrier will provide the network for visitors and athletes at the competition’s stadiums and by holding a demonstration booth at Nambu University, which also hosts the competition.

At its booth, KT will provide demonstrations of its 5G-network connected airship, a remote cockpit simulator for a self-driving car and its artificial intelligence services such as a GiGA Genie barista robot.

KT’s airship will provide real-time footage of the competition at the booth. The carrier added that it will also operate a self-driving bus connected to the superfast network from July 25 to 28.

The booth will run until Aug. 18, when the FINA World Championships and FINA Masters Championship will end.
