Start-up with cattle data pill has 500m data points

UlikeKorea, a start-up specializing in the development of livestock health management technology, said on Tuesday that it has recorded more than 500 million data points related to the health of livestock.

The start-up, which was founded in 2012, is known for its Livecare disease detector, which utilizes multiple advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data and the Internet-of-Things.

It is administered orally, collecting data on individual animals - such as core body temperature and activity - and reporting abnormalities, such as foot-and-mouth disease.

“We have exceeded 500 million big data points in cattle disease management data such as foot-and-mouth disease through Livecare,” said Kim Hee-jin, CEO of the company.

“Based on our solution, AI monitors the animals for 24 hours a day. In the case of bio-capsules equipped with GPS function, it is also possible to trace the movement [of] the cows in real time.”

“The start-up also aims to target different overseas markets with the smart healthcare systems for livestock.”

The unit has entered the Japanese market, with an agreement signed in 2016, to carry out health and disease management on calves and adult cattle.

It also signed a product-development agreement with Japan’s Softbank to enter the Australian market.

To further develop its global footprint, UlikeKorea, which is located in the Hyundai Knowledge Industrial Center, signed an memorandum of understanding with the Danish government and will soon establish a European Union headquarters to access the key 17 European countries.
