Doosan Infracore books a big order in France

Aug 01,2019
Doosan Infracore is expanding its overseas business.

The Korean construction equipment company said Wednesday that it has secured orders for 80 excavators from France’s Beauloc.

Three types of excavators have been ordered - 5 ton, 8 ton and 30 ton.

In 2016 and 2017, the French company purchased 200 excavators from Doosan Infracore. The excavators will be used in construction and road building in France.

“We will be supplying the excavators starting in August and through the end of this year,” the Korean company said in a statement.

Doosan Infracore’s construction equipment sales increased 11 percent in the first half in Europe and North America. The business grew at the same rate in 2018.

Sales made in Europe and North America account for 23.7 percent of all of its global construction equipment sales. That’s a 1.5-percentage-point increase from 2018.

Doosan Infracore’s Middle East sales doubled in the year through May. The region now accounts for 13.4 percent of its global sales. Additionally, the Korean company sold 100 or so units of heavy construction equipment in central Asian markets, which is a 20-percent increase in sales compared to the previous year.

“France is the largest market after Germany and Britain in Europe,” said Park Hyun-chul, managing director at Doosan Infracore Europe. “We plan to use the recent purchase [from France] as the foundation for expanding to larger clients not only in France but in other European markets.”
