KT introduces a public cloud for financial companies

KT said Tuesday it established a public cloud catered to financial companies.

While financial companies have been careful with using public cloud servers due to tight security guidelines due to potential hacking, the government’s easing of related regulations early this year has prompted cloud service providers to more aggressively target financial companies.

Unlike private clouds, or enterprise clouds, public cloud servers are cheaper and easier to manage for companies as they use data centers and cloud infrastructure set up by vendors like KT.

KT said its public cloud for financial companies has been set up at its data center in Mokdong, western Seoul. According to the carrier, its cloud meets all relevant requirements and guidelines from the Financial Security Institute.
