BTS announces a long-term break

Aug 13,2019
K-pop superstars BTS will be going on a long-term break to recharge themselves following the band’s back-to-back Billboard-topping album releases, its management agency said Monday.

“BTS will have its first official long-term vacation since its debut,” their agency Bit Hit Entertainment said on the band’s Twitter account and mobile fan application late Sunday.

The break kicked off following the band’s performance at the 2019 Lotte Duty Free Family Concert earlier in the day.

“The break will be time of recharging for BTS, who has worked restlessly since its debut, so that they, as musicians and creators, would be able to come back anew,” Big Hit said without providing further details. “It will also be time (for them) to enjoy the life as ordinary young men in their 20s.”

Each of the seven members will be spending the break in their own way before coming back to repay fans’ support with better music, it added.

Earlier this year, BTS became the first band to have three No. 1s on the Billboard 200 album chart in less than two years since the Beatles.

Over the past two years, the band has performed around the globe on their world tour, which made stops in New York, Paris, London and, most recently in July, Osaka.
