Hyundai Glovis opens branch in Chongqing

Aug 28,2019
Hyundai Glovis said Tuesday it established a branch office in Chongqing, China.

The logistics arm of Hyundai Motor now has 14 business bases in China, seven corporations - like Beijing Glovis and Tianjin Glovis - and seven branch offices attached to those corporations.

The company said it will use the new Chongqing branch to attract customers in the southwestern part of China and also use the base as a hub to deliver goods to Europe and Southeast Asia.

According to Glovis, Chongqing is located on trans-China railway that connects China with Europe and also offers good land transport to Southeast Asia. The company added in statement that Chongqing is a favorable place to start various logistics businesses as the region is a hub for importing parts and materials and exporting assembled final goods.

The Korean logistics company said its first target customers are Chinese companies producing cars, semiconductors, electronic goods, steel products and energy equipment in the southwestern part of China.

“By the size of the economy, Chongqing is one of the five largest cities in China,” a spokesperson from Hyundai Glovis said. “The city will open up doors for our logistics business not only in China but also in Europe and Southeast Asia […] We will strengthen our global logistics business through our expanded network in China.”

The Hyundai affiliate has been rapidly expanding its global presence recently. Last month it set up a corporation in Vietnam, the company’s first corporation in Southeast Asia, and also established two new sales offices in India - in Delhi and Mumbai.
