Air Seoul starts a Jeju route to make up for Japan flights
Air Seoul, a budget airline subsidiary of Asiana Airlines, announced Wednesday it will start domestic flight services from October.The move is part of the airline’s efforts to diversify its services after travel demand to Japan dropped due to a diplomatic spat between Korea and Japan. Among Korean airlines, Air Seoul was most dependent on its Japanese routes.
The company’s first domestic flight service will begin on Oct. 27 with a flight connecting Gimpo and Jeju. Sales of tickets began Wednesday. A one-way trip from Gimpo to Jeju is being offered for 9,900 won ($8.16) as a promotion.
The airline added it will launch new services to Zhangjiajie and Linyi as soon as China’s government approves.
