Holstein Kiel’s Lee Jae-sung scores fourth goal of season

Lee Jae-sung of German team Holstein Kiel scored his fourth goal of the season on Sunday.

During a match against Erzgebirge, Lee scored an equalizer with a header in the 73rd minute to lead his club to a 1-1 draw. This was Lee’s fourth goal of the season, and with a draw, Holstein stayed at 15th out of 18 clubs in the 2. Bundesliga.

Lee scored his first goal of the season during DFB Cup match against Salmrohr on Aug. 10. He added two more goals during Holstein Kiel’s league match against Karlsruher on Aug. 17.

Having transferred to Holstein Kiel from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of K League 1 last July, Lee finished the 2018-19 season with five goals and 10 assists in 31 matches. Lee signed a three-year deal with Holstein Kiel, lasting until June 2021.

As Lee’s strength is sharp passes and energy, he plays different roles in offense as well as playing midfield.

Before joining the Bundesliga, Lee scored 26 goals over his four seasons with Jeonbuk.

With his quick start, Lee was added onto the Korean national football team, led by head coach Paulo Bento. Looking at Lee’s performance with the national team, he scored eight goals in 45 national team matches.
