Moon in Myanmar

테스트

Korean President Moon Jae-in, left, and Myanmar President Win Myint inspect an honor guard together at an official welcome ceremony in the Presidential Palace in Naypyitaw, the capital of Myanmar, on Tuesday.

Moon’s state visit to Myanmar, the first by a Korean president in seven years, is in line with his administration’s campaign to reach out to Southeast Asian nations under the New Southern Policy.

Moon also had a meeting with state councilor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.

Moon discussed ways to improve bilateral relations, especially in trade, investment and development cooperation with Myanmar leaders.

Myanmar is eager to attract foreign direct investment, while Korea is seeking to expand partnerships with the nation, rich in natural resources and located in the center of Asia, between China and India. [YONHAP]
