Galaxy Fold’s price is set at 2.39 million won for release

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is likely to hit the market with a price tag of 2.39 million won ($1967) in Korea, according to mobile carrier sources on Tuesday.

After a canceled U.S. release in April, the foldable phone is expected to start domestic sales on Friday ahead of the IFA 2019 Berlin electronics show, which runs from Sept. 6 through 11.

The first batch of Folds for the local market, however, could number fewer than 10,000 units. Samsung was reported to be considering a local launch of 30,000 units, but scaled that back, industry sources say, because of manufacturing issues.

Samsung does not confirm product details ahead of releases.

The product to be released Friday is the upgraded version of the Galaxy Fold sent to U.S. tech reviewers in April.
