President Moon Jae-in, third from left, attends a business forum at the Lotte Hotel Yangon in Myanmar on Wednesday to describe his vision for a closer partnership between the two nations, including cooperation on infrastructure and culture, as well as people-to-people exchanges. The president led a business delegation to have discussions with Myanmar business leaders and officials, including Myanmar Vice President Myint Swe. A symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the Korea-Myanmar Industrial Complex was held alongside the forum. Earlier this year, the two sides signed a deal to create the South Korea-Myanmar Industrial Complex by 2024. Myanmar’s Ministry of Construction has teamed up with Korea Land and Housing (LH) for the project. Moon arrived in Naypyitaw, Myanmar, for a state visit on Tuesday and had a series of meetings with Myanmar President Win Myint and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi. [YONHAP]
