‘The Journalist’ with Shim to open
The Japanese film “The Journalist,” which features local actor Shim Eun-kyung in the lead role, will be released in October, distributor The Coup announced Tuesday.Shim plays fearless Japanese-Korean journalist Erika Yoshioka, who strives to uncover a hidden truth that the Japanese government is intent on covering up, pressuring the local press to produce false news and manipulating public opinion on social media to deceive the public.
The film, which was released in June in Japanese theaters, caused a huge commotion amongst moviegoers due to the fact that it sharply criticizes the government’s restrictions on press freedom.
