Pyongyang Int’l Film Festival starts

North Korea’s one and only international film festival, the Pyongyang International Film Festival (PIFF), opens its doors today.

According to the Rodong Sinmun, the 17th film festival will last until next Friday. Competitive sections include Feature Film, Documentary, Short Film and Cartoon Film.

From Sunday to Tuesday, the festival will have a special screening of foreign films from countries friendly with North Korea, such as China, India and Russia.

At last year’s event, international film organizers from China, France, Australia, Italy and Germany participated. Films such as “The Woman Behind the Man” and “Goddesses in the Flames of War” from China, and the Russian film “Salyut” won prizes among foreign films.
