Korea’s first confirmed cases of African swine fever were found on a farm in Gyeonggi.

경기도 한 농장에서 아프리카돼지열병이 국내 처음으로 발병한 것이 확인됐다.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on Tuesday, five pigs were found dead on a farm in Paju, Gyeonggi on Monday. The pigs had shown signs of high fever. The ministry said it tested and found the pigs were infected with the incurable, contagious swine fever, which it confirmed at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

화요일 농림축산식품부에 따르면 경기도 파주의 한 농장에서 월요일 돼지 다섯 마리가 폐사했다. 폐사한 돼지들은 고열 증상을 보였었다. 폐사한 돼지들이 치료가 불가능하고 전염성이 강한 아프리카돼지열병에 감염됐다는 검사 결과를 화요일 오전 6시30분쯤 확인했다고 농식품부는 밝혔다.
The government said there were no pig farms in the 3-kilometer (1.9-mile) radius from the infected farm.

방역당국은 감염 농장에서 3킬로미터 반경 안에는 다른 돼지농장이 없다고 말했다.
“We have diagnosed that the dead pigs found at a farm in Paju, Gyeonggi, on Monday were infected with the African swine fever,” said Agriculture Minister Kim Hyeon-soo. “As such, we have raised the alert level from dangerous to critical.”

김현수 농식품부 장관은 “월요일 경기 파주의 한 농장에서 폐사한 돼지들이 아프리카돼지열병에 감염됐음을 확진 판정했다. 아프리카돼지열병 위기경보 단계를 ‘위험’에서 최고 수준인 ‘심각’으로 올렸다”고 말했다.
The ministry said it is taking preemptive action to prevent the spread of the disease. “The first week after an outbreak is most dangerous considering that the African swine fever has a dormant period,” Kim said.

농식품부는 아프리카돼지열병의 확산을 방지하기 위해 선제적 방역활동을 시작했다고 말했다. “아프리카돼지열병이 잠복기가 있는 점을 고려하면 발병 후 첫 일주일이 가장 위험하다”고 김 장관은 말했다.
The government said 3,950 pigs on three separate farms owned by the same farmer were culled, while access to the farm where the infected pigs were found was restricted.

방역당국은 같은 농장주가 소유한 세 개 농장에서 사육중인 돼지 3,950 마리를 살처분했고, 감염농장으로 접근을 제한했다.
Additionally the government is conducting thorough testing for possible outbreaks at 19 pig farms in a 10-kilometer radius of the infected farm.

방역당국은 추가로 감염 농장에서 반경 10킬로미터 이내에 있는 19개 돼지농장에 대해 감염여부를 철저하게 검사하고 있다.
