Kwon Soon-woo crashes out of Zhuhai Open in two sets

After a surprise victory, Kwon Soon-woo was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Zhuhai Open in China on Thursday.

Kwon lost 6-7 and 2-6 to Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia. After losing the first set in a tie break, Kwon wasn’t able to make a comeback in the second set, his serve was broken to lose the match in one hour and 30 minutes.

Before Kwon’s round of 16 match, he made quite an upset in the round of 32 by defeating the 24th-ranked Lucas Pouille of France 7-6 and 6-2.

Although he made an early exit, Kwon’s ranking is expected to go up.

Another Korean tennis player, Chung Hyeon, competed in a different ATP Tour event in China, the Chengdu Open, but faced an earlier exit than Kwon as he lost his round of 32 match to Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-1, 3-6 and 4-6 on Wednesday.
