Brooks Raley ends season with just 5 wins in 30 starts

The Lotte Giants foreign pitcher Brooks Raley finished the 2019 season with just five wins.

Raley had his last start of the season during a game against the Kia Tigers at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan on Thursday. Although Raley hoped to finish the season strong with a win, he made an early exit instead, as he gave up three runs in the first three innings.

The Giants lost the game 1-3.

As the Giants’ interim manager Kong Pill-sung said before the game that Raley would be excluded from the entry after that start, all three of the Giants’ foreign players have now ended their 2019 season.

This year, Raley was one of the unluckiest starting pitchers in the KBO.

In his 20 starts during the first half of the season, Raley picked up five wins and seven losses with a 3.57 ERA. However, in his 10 starts in the second half of the inning, he didn’t pick up a single win.

In the 30 games that Raley started in throughout the season, he recorded 19 quality starts but still walked away with losses in 13 of them.

Due to this, Raley finished his season with five wins and 14 losses with a 3.88 ERA. Currently, Raley has picked up the most losses of any starting pitcher in the KBO this season.

Raley joined the KBO in 2015. This was his fifth season playing for the Giants.
