The statue, representing Korean women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II, is part of the exhibition “After ‘Freedom of Expression?’” The exhibition had been withdrawn from the Aichi Triennale just days after the Japanese art show opened on Aug. 1. The withdrawal, which organizers attributed to security reasons, prompted accusations of artistic censorship. The host agreed to bring back the exhibition, which runs until Oct. 14.
