London event honors Korean stars

The fourth London East Asia Film Festival (Leaff) opened doors on Thursday night at the Odeon Leicester Square on Thursday night with the theme “Crisis, Chaos and Survival.” The event will be held until Nov. 3.

The opening film was the apocalypse-comedy film “Exit” which sold 9.4 million tickets at the local box office. Before the movie was screened, actor Ryu Jun-yeol received the Rising Star award for his role in “Money,” Park Ji-hu won the New Actress award for “The House of Hummingbird” and producer of the film “The Shameless” Han Jae-duk was given the Best Producer award at a ceremony on Thursday.

Twenty two local films, including “The House of Us,” “The Divine Fury” and “Money,” will be screened or make their European premiere at the event.

Leaff is a film event that features films from 11 east and southeast Asian countries for London audiences.

The festival screenings and events will take place at various venues around the city, including the Odeon Convent Garden, Bertha Dochouse, the Tate Modern museum, the Cinema Museum and more.
