Whistle’ clip hits 100 million views

The choreography video for girl group Blackpink’s hit song “Whistle” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, YG Entertainment announced on Friday.

“Blackpink’s debut song ‘Whistle’ surpassed 100 million views on its choreography video on Friday morning around 2:10 a.m., evidence of fans’ ever-lasting love,” the agency said.

“Whistle” was released on Aug. 8, 2016, as one of the two lead singles off of Blackpink’s debut release “Square One,” along with “Boombayah.”

With a fresh new style that was reminiscent of girl group 2NE1, “Whistle” helped Blackpink become one of the leading girl groups of the year.

According to the agency, the latest feat pushes the total number of Blackpink YouTube videos with over 100 million views to 17 - including music videos, choreography and stage performances.

The group also reached 900 million views, the first time for a K-pop group, with their hit “Ddu-du Ddu-du” (2018).

Blackpink is set to kick off a Japanese tour with a concert at the Tokyo Dome in December.
