More pharmaceutical companies are jumping into the cosmetics business using research and development to develop medicines, bringing rise to the term cosmeceutical.

The combination of the words cosmetic and pharmaceutical refers to cosmetic products that contain medically-beneficial substances.

Dong-a Pharmaceutical Company, one of the country’s largest pharmaceutical brands, has moved into the cosmeceutical market with a cosmetics line called FATION.

The name FATION is a combination of “fati,” which in Latin means “fate” and “on,” as in “lights on.”

The brand’s NoSCalm Repair Line consists of cleansing water, cleansing gel, peeling toner, intensive ampoule, gel cream and sun cream, a total of six products.

They all contain NoSCalm Complex, which consists of sodium heparin, panthenol, allantoin and Artemisia extract.

FATION Deep Barrier and FATION Homme are other line ups that contain products that moisturize dry skin during the winter.

The products are tested for skin irritation and are hypoallergenic, enabling even those with sensitive skin to be able to utilize the products.

K-pop star Seol-hyun has been selected as the main spokesmodel for Dong-a Pharmaceutical Company and will market the product to those in their 20s and 30s.

“We have launched the cosmetics brand FATION in an effort to provide better products for consumers and we hope that FATION will bring joy to our clients’ lives,” said an official from Dong-a Pharmaceutical Company.
