‘The Dinner’ premieres in Ulsan

A short independent film “The Dinner” commemorating the life of independence activist Park Sang-jin (1884-1921) was screened for the first time at Ulsan Culture & Arts Center on Friday evening.

The 20-minute film is about Park’s spirit visiting his wife at home after he died fighting for his country.

It is well-known that Park’s wife struggled to continue earning enough after Park died. Struck by shock and trauma after hearing the news of her husband’s death, she lost the will to live and starved herself to death.

Actor Kim Jong-gu who appeared in the film “Exit” (2019) and “Daddy You, Daughter Me” plays activist Park.

Park was arrested in 1918 by Japanese soldiers after being caught working in a independence activist group known as “Korean Independence.” He refused his right to a legal attorney and was executed in 1921.
