BTS reaches a full year on Billboard

BTS became the first ever K-pop band to chart on Billboard for a full year, the U.S. music chart said on Wednesday.

“Once again breaking new ground for Korean artists in the United States, BTS scores a major milestone on the Billboard 200 as ‘Love Yourself: Answer’ spends a full year on America’s main albums chart,” it wrote.

According to Billboard, “Love Yourself: Answer” returned to the chart again this week at No. 165, a year and two months after its release in August last year. The return tallied the number of weeks it has appeared on the chart to a total 52 weeks.

“This makes the EP the first K-pop album to spend a year on the Billboard 200, far surpassing the longevity of any other act on the tally,” Billboard said.

Their most recent EP “Map of the Soul: Persona” has appeared on the albums chart for 22 consecutive weeks - and 25 times in total - after its release in April. It currently ranks at No. 149.

The EP is also No. 2 on the World Albums chart, No. 19 on the Independent Albums chart, No. 50 on the Top Current Albums chart and No. 58 on the Top Album Sales chart.

BTS is also sitting on the top of the Social 50 chart for the 121st week running and at No. 9 on the Artist 100 chart.
