The Vision T SUV was introduced by Hyundai Motor Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the automaker said Thursday.

It is a plug-in hybrid SUV concept model, the seventh vehicle from the company to follow its new “Sensuous Sportiness” design philosophy and the latest effort by the automaker to strengthen its SUV lineup.

The design language was previously used in the creation of six Hyundai Motor models, including the new Sonata, which was introduced in March, and the face-lifted Grandeur premium sedan, which hit the market earlier this week.

The latest concept car incorporated “parametric fantasy” and “transcendent connectivity” into the design on top of applying Sensuous Sportiness, which is characterized by harmony of proportion, architecture, styling and technology, Hyundai Motor said.

The Vision T concept, which could influence the design of the next Tucson SUV, is scheduled for introduction next year and offers insights into the direction the company will be taking in designing new urban SUVs in the future.

Environmental consciousness remains a priority, the automaker said. The Parametric Air Shuttle Grille opens and closes depending on what is more efficient.

Also during the Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai Motor debuted the Racing Midship 2019 (RM19) high-performance concept car. RM19, equipped with the engine used for Hyundai Motor’s professional racing team, is rated at 390 horsepower.

The high-performance concept model is a way for Hyundai Motor to share its research progress on developing high-end cars.

Kia Motors, which is controlled by Hyundai Motor, showcased the HabaNiro electric vehicle concept.

The automaker said the concept model can travel more than 300 miles per charge and is capable of driving on regular roads and off-road terrain. The car also comes with a system that monitors passenger health and their emotional state in real time, Kia added.

Korea’s second-largest automaker by sales also introduced its Seltos SUV, which is likely to be available in North America next year.

Genesis, the Hyundai Motor premium brand, introduced the next G90 premium sedan to the North American market. The model launched in Korea late last year. Hyundai Motor is planning to introduce more Genesis models in the market in coming years following the early success of the brand.
