LG set to introduce smart door and style avatar

LG Electronics will introduce a lifestyle that can be led by artificial intelligence (AI) solutions at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) scheduled for January.

The electronics company on Sunday said it will unveil AI solutions that can be expanded outside the home at CES, which will take place in Las Vegas from Jan. 7 through Jan. 10.

Under the theme “Anywhere is Home,” LG Electronics will set up a ThinQ booth, where visitors can check out technologies such as a 3-D avatar that shows how certain clothes would look on them without actually trying them on and a smart door, which features a refrigerated delivery box on one side where packages or fresh produce residents ordered online can be preserved until they return. Such deliveries will be protected by an authentication code, and residents can remotely control the door via their mobile phones, according to LG Electronics.

The other side of the door informs residents of information like the weather, traffic and their schedules.

LG Electronics plans to offer connected car solutions at CES after teaming up with Adient, an automotive seating firm. The solution includes perks like drivers being able to continue watching the video they were watching at home on the display installed inside the car. The OLED display also informs riders of what’s happening at home, like whether a robot vacuum machine has completed cleaning. A virtual personal assistant and a solution that blocks surrounding noises will also be offered.

“[LG Electronics] plans to demonstrate LG’s vision of artificial intelligence to keep in pace with the fourth industrial revolution,” said a spokesperson for LG Electronics in a statement. “Through LG ThinQ, consumers will be able to enjoy the AI experiences enjoyed at home outside to enjoy a lifestyle where anywhere can be felt like home.”
