[Sponsored Report] Posco prepares employees for future growth

테스트

Employees of Posco gather to brainstorm new business ideas.[POSCO]

One year after Posco was founded, even before the establishment of its ironworks factory, the company started its Steel Training Center.

The company’s philosophy, “limited resources, unlimited creativity,” has been passed down for 50 years making Posco the most competitive steel company in the country for 10 consecutive years.

Last year, to mark the 50th anniversary of Posco, the company developed a management philosophy, “Corporate Citizenship: Building a Better Future Together,” to capture its duties as a corporate citizen.

Posco group’s new employee education is a compulsory starting point for employees to transform themselves from students into a Posco person.

The education program is made up of three weeks of group introductory education, four weeks of on-site training and three weeks of Posco advanced education, which deals with the mindset that employees are expected to have as a part of the company.

Along with the training they receive, new employees learn cooperation through activities such as volunteer work.

Pitching new business ideas for Posco Group with fellow members of their training cohort is another great opportunity for employees to learn how to present ideas effectively.

New employees may have been honor students during their school years, but in working in new environments and with different report formats, they may face difficulty settling in.

E-learning is available through both PCs and mobile devices to save new recruits from the burden of having to ask their superiors many questions.

Posco Group engineers receive customized training depending on the needs and characteristics of each department.

Posco is preparing for the future of decision-making based on artificial intelligence (AI) data and new ways of working. Therefore, Posco Group University provided basic AI education for 5,600 of its employees at Posco last year.

Another benefit that employees are able to take advantage of is an overseas corporation dispatch, since Posco Group owns numerous overseas corporations.

As the company places more emphasis on its overseas businesses, the performance of employees has become more important.

Employees must go through tough competition in order to be sent overseas and are required to undergo mandatory education before being sent as an overseas manager.

Posco educates its employees so that they understand the strategy of the corporation perfectly and even prepares them to be ready to settle down in new cultures and to negotiate with people from the country they will be working in.

There are also special programs to educate local employees.

In order to help them become familiar with the company’s management philosophy, Posco has translated its contents into 4 different languages, and it has been distributed to 60 overseas corporations.

Local employees that excel in the corporation are invited to Korea to help them get a sense of Posco in detail and to nurture them to become better and more efficient managers.
