Sanghee Cheong to lecture in Vienna

테스트

[STOMP MUSIC]

Korean violinist Sanghee Cheong, who is active in both Europe and Korea, will start teaching other aspiring artists from all around the world at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in March.

She will be the first Korean, as well as the first Asian, to be a full-time lecturer specialized in teaching how to play violin at the university from which she got her undergraduate and master’s degrees.

In March, she will become a senior lecturer for the preparatory course, which is focused on discovering talent in those between the ages of 6 and 19 and helping them to continue developing their musical aptitude.

Prior to joining the team at the university, she will have a solo concert on Feb. 13 at the TLi Art Center in Gyeonggi to meet her fans in Korea.

While she has been active as a performer, Cheong has also organized music events as well. She joined the first edition of the Zell am See Festival in Austria along with international talents such as Maxim Vengerov and Igor Petrushevski.

After the event’s successful run last year, she will participate in making the second edition of the festival scheduled to happen in July.

Last year, students from 13 different countries participated in master classes and other events, and students from Austria, China and Korea who underwent soloist auditions performed under the direction of conductor Maxim Vengerov during the festival.

Over the years, Cheong has worked with many different festivals as a performer in the Czech Republic, Brazil and Austria.
