‘Parasite’ nominated for a Cesar

Director Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” has been nominated in the Best Foreign Film category at the 45th Cesar Awards, France’s Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences revealed on Thursday.

The Cesar Awards are the most prestigious national film awards in France and have been celebrating the best French films of the year since 1976.

“Parasite” is nominated alongside “Pain and Glory” by Pedro Almodovar, “Le Jeune Ahmed” by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, “Joker” by Todd Phillips, “Lola Vers La Mer” by Laurent Micheli, “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” by Quentin Tarantino and “The Traitor” by Marco Bellocchio.

Last year’s award was taken home by Hirokazu Koreeda’s “Shoplifters.” The Japanese feature film also won the Palme d’Or at the 71st Cannes Film Festival.

This year’s award ceremony will take place at Salle Pleyel in Paris on Feb. 28.
