H1GHR Music donates 5,000 masks

Record company H1GHR Music donated 5,000 masks to The Big Issue Korea to help its workers fend off the coronavirus infection, the company said Monday.

The Big Issue Korea is the Korean branch of the British magazine that was established with a mission to help the homeless become self-dependent through working as The Big Issue magazine sellers.

In Korea, a homeless person can apply to become a The Big Issue seller, taking 50 percent of the income home. Once he or she keeps up the work for six months, they can apply for rental housing.

“As the novel coronavirus is spreading throughout the country, we decided to donate 5,000 masks with Gazeshop, a KF94 mask producer,” H1GHR Music said in its statement Monday. “The masks donated will be provided to the sellers at Big Issue.”

H1GHR Music is a record label established by rapper and singer-songwriter Jay Park and singer and music producer Cha Cha Malone in 2017.

The artists affiliated with the company include Woogie, Sik-K, pH-1, Golden, Woodie Gochild, HAON and Big Naughty.

“H1GHR Music’s goal is to communicate with the public through music, but not only that, we are also hoping to establish a culture of sharing,” the company said.

The Big Issue Korea’s senior executive Kim Soo-yeol thanked H1GHR Music for its generous gift.

“We were concerned for the well-being of the sellers who have to spend most of their day outside,” Kim said. “We are thankful to H1GHR Music for thinking of them.”
