Julian Lage will perform in Seoul

American guitarist and composer Julian Lage will be performing in Korea for the first time next month.

Jazz company Plus Hitch announced that Lage will be performing at Nodeul Island in central Seoul on March 8, beginning at 6 p.m. He will also be hosting a master class on jazz music earlier that day, from 3 p.m., on the island.

The guitar prodigy made a name for himself when he performed in documentary “Jules at Eight” (1996) at the age of 8 and performed at the 2000 Grammy Awards. By 2003, when he was 15 years old, he was already teaching at Stanford Jazz Workshop.

After he graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2008, Lage released his first album, “Sounding Point,” in 2009, which was nominated for Best Contemporary Jazz Album at the Grammy Awards. Lage has since then released “Gladwell” (2011), “World’s Fair” (2015) and “Arclight” (2016) and was nominated two additional times for the Grammy.

Lage is coming to Korea as part of his “Love Hurts” tour and will be performing with bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer David King. Tickets are available on Yes24 and starts from 60,000 won ($50.80). The master class costs 30,000 won.
