Women’s basketball team retains world ranking at 19th

In the updated world ranking of women’s basketball announced by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) on Wednesday, Korean women’s basketball team retained its spot at 19th.

Although Korea managed to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, unfortunately, it didn’t see any changes in its world ranking according to FIBA. The Korean women’s basketball team is ranked 19th with a total of 333.3 points.

The groups for the Olympic women’s basketball tournament will be drawn based on the world ranking on March 21.

Looking at the teams competing at the Olympics, there will be a total of 12 countries vying for gold. Of the 12, Korea is ranked the 11th lowest, just ahead of Puerto Rico, whose world ranking is 22nd.

The United States is at the top, followed by Australia, Spain and Canada.

All members of the Korean women’s basketball team, who competed at the Olympic qualifier, will be back in action with their respective clubs in the Women’s Korean Basketball League starting Sunday.
