Stars make major donations to help in fight against coronavirus

Celebrities are continuing to step up and make large donations to help the country battle the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Actor Lee Min-ho and his agency MYM Entertainment donated 300 million won ($252,000) to the donation platform Promiz, which distributed the funds to over eight non-profit organizations, including the Community Chest of Korea, Hope Bridge, Save the Children, ChildFund Korea and more.

Actors Lee Jung-jae and Kim Young-cheol as well as singers Park Hyo-shin and Kim Bum-soo each donated 100 million won to the Community Chest of Korea. Dahyun of girl group Twice donated 50 million won.

Trot singer Hong Jin-young donated 20,000 masks to Daegu City Hall and North Gyeongsang. In January, Hong donated 5,000 masks to a public facility in Asan, South Chungcheong, and the Community Chest of Korea in Incheon. Last month she sent 5,000 masks to senior citizens living alone and low-income households in Incheon.
