Amorepacific takes Sulwhasoo to the United States

Amorepacific is taking Sulwhasoo, its high-end beauty brand, to the United States, the company said Monday.

Among many of the company’s many beauty and skin-care brands, Sulwhasoo is the company’s most expensive.

Sulwhasoo products will be placed in 31 Sephora stores located in some of the most populated U.S. cities, including New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, by Sunday. The company started online sales of 16 Sulwhasoo products at Sephora.com in January and had achieved positive sales results.

Some of the products were sold out, Amorepacific said. The range of products sold for the brick-and-mortar stores was expanded to 20 categories.

Despite sluggish sales in Korea and China, the company has been aggressively pushing for expansion in the United States, where its foothold was relatively small. Last year, Amorepacific’s U.S. sales increased 38 percent to 93 billion won.
