[Guest Report] Hyundai Glovis aims to grow industry
Recently, Hyundai Glovis announced that it will be hosting an event called the Smart Move Challenge to support start-ups. The contest, with a focus on “open innovation,” will collect innovative ideas from various companies.
After a thorough judging process, one team with the best idea proposal will receive as much as 100 million won ($83,000) over a year and a chance to participate in an incubation program provided by the company. Hyundai Glovis plans to promote new business items with the proposed ideas.
By helping small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups, the company’s goal is to ensure the stability of the SMEs and improve the overall domestic logistics industry. In that sense, the Foundation of Korea Logistics Industry Promotion (KLIP) was founded by Hyundai Glovis in 2013 to pass on knowledge to small logistics companies and help them to increase their competitiveness.
Its primary focus is to offer practical support to small companies by providing consulting and vocational training, hosting a logistics conference, developing logistics policies and rewarding excellent companies in terms of performance.
KLIP also hosts a Korea Logistics Industry Promotion Conference annually to improve the current situation and to deal with the difficulties. This year’s theme was “Creating hopeful, mutually-beneficial logistics systems.”
“Based on the philosophy of harmony and communion, we will make an effort in supporting small-sized logistics companies,” said an official from Hyundai Glovis.
“We will also develop policies for mutual growth and contribute to the development of our nation’s logistics industry.”
