Almost Half of All Seoulites Online

Seoul residents using the Internet usually did so for nomore than 90 minutes each day, while watching TV for more than 180 minutes.
These are the results of a survey that was conducted recently by the city of Seoul to 1500 residents between the ages of 15 and 64.
While 71 percent of Seoul's online citizens possessed email accounts, only 18 percent had visited an online shopping mall.
Most people, when using computers, did so at home (45 percent), while 24 percent logged in from PC rooms and 16 percent at work.
Results showed that 38 percent of Seoul's citizens were receiving computer education at private academies. Therefore, it was decided that that education at schools, the workplace and public facilities should be extended.
Almost 75 percent of the citizens who have never received computer education hoped to enter a comuter education classroom in the future.
When asked which media they associated with the information society, 61 percent answered the Internet and PC communications, 59 percent the computer, 34 percent the TV and 16 percent the newspaper.
