Ancient Gilt Bronze Shoes On Display

A pair of gilt bronze shoes(photo), decorated with fish, made in the ancient Baekje Dynasty (2,000 thousand years ago) will be on display to the public for the first time. The Office of Cultural Properties, a branch of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism made public a pair of gilt bronze shoes on September 22, found in Naju, Chonnam province on August 1996.
The shoes are 26.8 cm long, 9.5 cm wide, and 7 cm high. Turtle shells and beads ornament the surface of the shoes. Experts said, 'As of now, 18 pairs of gilt shoes were found but these are the first which have fish decorations.'
