Andong Chajon Nori To Open Hanover Expo

Korean ritual performance Andong Chajon Nori will be presented on the opening stage of the Hanover Expo 2000 in Germany, which starts in June. Andong Chajon Nori is a Korean historical ritual intended to secure a good rice crop. Two opposing groups 'fight' for the right to the rice. The ritual comes to a close with the presentation of rice by members of the victorious party to the audience.

The Korean Cultural Properties Administration announced that Hanover Expo organizers selected Andong Chajon Nori as the Asian representative folk performance at the Expo. Hanover Expo organizers also invited Brazilian Carnival and Moroccan Fantasia performers to take the stage for the opening events, which will run from June 1 to 4.
