Apple Thematic Park Will be Constructed in Changsu

The Changsu District Office of North Cholla Province has decided to construct an amusement park with an apple theme to be called 'Eve Park'.

Eve Park will cover an area of 49,500 square meters at a cost of 250 million won (227 thousand dollars) and will be completed by the end of next year.

The park will be decorated with sculptures representing the local variety of apple--the Changsu. The park will also be landscaped with a variety of apple trees and gardens.

Designers of the park also plan to build a two story 3,300 square meter building equipped with lecture halls, a laboratory and exhibition pavilions describing the history and importance of the Changsu apple to the local economy.

A Changsu district officer said the office was planning to hold an apple festival every year to develop the Changsu area as a tourist spot.

There are 216 farms, covering 400 hectares of apple orchards, which bring in over 9 billion won (8.1 million dollars) a year to the Changsu area.
