Austrailian Cultural Festival

An Austrailian cultural festival will be held in downtown Seoul to introduce Koreans to the Australian culture.

The 'Austrailian Festival 2000' is a yearly festival held by the Austrailian embassy of Korea, which began in 1992. The purpose of the festival is to introduce Australian culture to the Korean people. Every year, the festival chooses a different theme such as, travel, music, or the environment. This year, to celebrate the Sydney Olympics, the festival will hold a variety of sporting events, such as the 'Seoul Fun Run,' to coincide with Australia's hosting of the Olympics.

Other events at the festival include a joint Korean Australian concer to be held on June 3 and June 5. Eight Korean dancers, including Park Ki-ja, Paek Sang-bok, and Kwon Kum-hyang will introduce a new dance created especially for the festival to the public.

There will also be other cultural events such as an Australian children's book exhibition, an Australian horse racing show, an Austrailian products exhibition, and an Austrailian food festival.
