Broadcasting Unions" Strike to End

The unions of Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) will call off the strike, which started on July 13, on July 28.
The Korea Broadcasting Labor Union said on Monday at a press conference, 'We will end the strike and return to work as of 6:00 am, July 28 as we have induced some agreements on the establishment of a democratic broadcasting law with the government and ruling party.'
The agreements, released at the conference, contain the passage of a new broadcasting law during the extraordinary session of the National Assembly running August 2 to 13, commissioners' selection of the broadcasting committee's chairman, and the committee's defining criteria and reasoning for selecting KBS's president.
