Car Inspection Charge to Be Raised
The regular car inspection charge will be raised from April 24 by $2.7 from $10.9 to $13.6.The Korea Transportation Safety Authority (KOTSA) announced on April 18 that it had decided to raise the fee that is charged at its 45 inspection offices and 128 branch offices, considering rising personnel expenses and prices.
People in private businesses can decide the regular inspection charge at their own discretion. Annually 2,200,000 cars are inspected by KOTSA and 4,090,000 by private car repair shops.
An official from KOTSA commented, "We will invest $6 million gathered from raising the fee, into offering new facilities to women, the young, the old, and physically challenged persons."
