Cheju Local Gov't Proposes $4 Million Lottery

"We sold tickets for the Super Tour Lottery in the first half of the year, with a first prize of $3 million, but failed to find a winner. We are promoting the $4 million lottery to prevent consumers losing interest," said a source.
Cheju Island issued 20 million lottery tickets in the first half of the year, and made profits of around $9 million with sales of 15.6 million tickets.
However, whether the promotion will go ahead looks to be in doubt. The Premier's Office and the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs is seeking a lower first prize of under $900,000, fearing that public involvement in gambling could be encouraged.
